Receiving a wrongfully obtained card under North Carolina General Statute 14-113.9(a)(1) occurs when a person (1) receives (2) a financial transaction card (3) intending to use it, sell it, or transfer it to a person other than the issuer or cardholder and (4) knowing that it was taken, obtained, or withheld in violation of N.C.G.S. 14-113.9(a)(1) “taking or withholding a card.”
Receiving a wrongfully obtained card is a class I felony with a maximum punishment under the law of 24 months incarceration.
